Studio III is committed to offering the best value in dance education with an emphasis on the individual. Here is what we offer:
A Dress Code creates a professional look to classes and makes the dancer, parents and observers aware that the staff of Studio III Dance takes the training they provide seriously. Equality is created along with a sense of discipline. The teachers can see the dancers’ posture and whether the dancer is using the correct technique when not wearing baggy clothing. Technical corrections are necessary to create a strong dancers’ body. Jewelry such as necklaces, watches, bracelets of any kind and dangling earrings are not allowed in class due to safety reasons. If a dancer arrives for class in inappropriate dance wear, a note will be sent home to the parents informing them of the incorrect dress. This note must be signed and brought back to the dancers’ teacher. If there is an ongoing problem with dress code the dancer will be asked to sit and watch the class instead of participating, until they arrive to class dressed properly. We give everyone two weeks grace at the beginning of the season to accommodate body suit orders not in stock.
Students should always treat the Teacher and each other with respect. They should be quiet and courteous at all times. Foul language, violence or bullying will not be tolerated.
The studio will not release a recital costume or sell tickets for the recital if payments for the classes and costumes are in arrears. Once payments are up to date, costumes and tickets will be available.
The Studio will be closed for Thanksgiving Monday, for Christmas Holidays – last day of classes being Saturday December 20th with classes resuming Monday January 5th, March Break, Good Friday , and Victoria Day Weekend Monday . Classes are held on Saturdays during the long weekends.
Please check basket on a regular basis. Studio III Dance is not responsible for any lost or stolen articles. Every few months we will empty the basket and give the articles to charity.
Studio 3 Dance does have a year-end dance recital. This recital gives the students a chance to perform on stage in a theatre with lighting etc. The recital is usually the second weekend of June depending on available theatre dates. A dress rehearsal is held a few days before the Recital. Tickets are sold beginning in April. A costume is required to be worn as well as make up. Pictures are taken previous to the recital that you may purchase, at the studio with a photographer and videos of the recital are sold. Please see next item.
A Costume will be required to perform in our annual year-end show. The costume deposit will be $65.00 per class taken. This deposit is non-refundable, and any balance due is the responsibility of the parent, regardless of circumstances. A Recital Costume will cost anywhere between $75.00 and $100.00. Costume deposits are due October 29th.
If your child has any severe allergies to food products or the environment, please make us aware of this situation.
Please inform the studio of a change of address and telephone number. All students must remain inside the building while waiting to be picked up after their lesson.
Returned cheques (NSF) are subject to a $25.00 service charge.
In the event of severe weather please call the office at 940-3840 and listen for a message by 3 pm weekdays and 8 am weekends. If classes are cancelled there will be a message informing you of the cancellation. If you do not hear a message regarding cancelled classes, our classes will still be held. WE DO NOT CANCEL CLASSES WHEN THE SCHOOL BUSES ARE CANCELLED. If our teachers can make it to the studio, classes will be on as usual. Once the same class has been cancelled twice due to severe weather, the studio will make up the third and any other classes cancelled due to weather conditions. You will be notified of the time and day for a make up class. As class payments are non-refundable once paid, there is not any reimbursement for classes missed, whether it is a replacement class scheduled by the studio or a regular weekly class. The replacement class will not be on the same day as the missed class and may be with another teacher.
Regular attendance is advantageous for all students otherwise the progress of the student and their classmates is hindered because the teacher must re-teach what others have already learned. Our teachers are at times attending workshops, taking exams or attending competitions to keep themselves educated in the dance world. If you have been told that a replacement teacher will be covering a class, it is still important for your dancer to attend. The students will generally be covering the same work that they have been learning or learning new dance steps. Please call the studio 940-3840 if your child will not be attending a class due to an illness, vacation etc.
If your dancer has missed classes these classes cannot be made up in another class. Due to a different teacher, a different dance level, specific choreography being taught or style, a dancer cannot just join in on another class periodically. As long as your dancer is not running a fever or vomiting it is in their best interest to come and watch their class. Observing a class is still a learning tool and your dancer will not feel that she/he is getting behind in class.
Placement is determined by the students’ age, ability, and dance experience. The teacher makes placement in the proper class with the students’ best interest in mind. If there are any questions in regards to this please call the studio to discuss the matter.
Please check your mailbox at the studio and the bulletin board for important reminders and information. At Studio 3 Dance we take great care in creating, copying and filing newsletters etc into our dancers’ mail files. It is the responsibility of every dancer to check their file every week and give these newsletters to their parents. If a parent has not received any information from the studio for a few weeks, then the parent should come in and check the mail file.
If you would prefer to have your newsletters e-mailed please make note of this on your registration form.
