Heather’s objective is to share her love and knowledge of music with students and make them as enthusiastic as she is. Heather has always been involved in music even as a high school student where she was part of the drama and music departments. She moved to Iowa to Major in Professional Music at the Southwestern Community College where she received an Associate of Arts Degree. While attending school in Iowa, she co-ordinated several Jazz Festivals, bringing in groups from across the country. She was a member of several vocal jazz groups as well as classical concert choirs. Once she received her Degree, Ms Holmes travelled across the mid-west to perform and teach at high schools and colleges with music programs. To further her career she received a bachelor of Music in Performance and Education at the City University of New York. There she did a Major in Music performance-jazz Voice with a Minor in Music Education. She was also actively involved in the scatting and jazz improve classes, and tutoring fellow classmates in theory, musicianship classes involving pitch, harmony and keyboard skills. Heather is also well versed in Musical Theatre after directing many musicals with groups of 10 or more children. Heather also teaches a Merry Melodies course which is for parents and children from 4 months of age up to 5 years old. We are looking forward to Heather teaching our new Musical Theatre Program which is a 14 week program working on one musical with a performance at the end.
